Signs of the Apocalypse from the Book Club
Here at the library we like to to think we are normal, everyday, eldritch being-fearing folks. At the same time, we like to look around and see if there's a truth to that whole "the world is ending" thing. We took it to the book club, our general roundtable discussion group where we also do gobs of mushrooms. Here's what they said!
War, Famine, Disease, and Death
Turns out during the end times there will be all these dudes running around spreading chaos, causing food shortages, squicking wild pandemics, and pushing general death. Since there has never been a time in human history without a bit of the old mass stabby-stabby, war seems about the norm. Famine, well, the same rich people are letting the same poor people starve, so eh. Disease is also pretty normal as even in recent memory we've been vaccinating for just about everything and the only enemy is dumbasses and nature getting better equipped. And the rate of all mortal existence is death, i.e. see previous sentences.
Return of the Savior
Seems like a small faction of our book club are expecting a beatific creature from an almighty power to come down and do… something. Either war or mass kidnapping. No one is really sure.
Invasion
Even lower down the ladder are the folks that feel that some other species or evil organized entity will came to the Earth and begin to lay waste. Aliens, demons, what have you. This is wild thinking as we all know the lizard men have been under Mount Denali otherwise the current administration would not want to rename it to throw the lizard bastards into disarray!
Fuck yeah, mushrooms! And fuck, steal, and eat the rich!
